Entrecard and the New Ad System

I am currently NOT accepting paid ads on this site, so EC members will still receive 100% of impressions.

Entrecard has implemented a new system for paid ads, and in my opinion, the implementation of the ads program really leaves much to be desired.

While they don’t “force” you to accept ads, they have put in to place a couple of things which accomplish exactly the same end.

1.If you do not accept any ads, they will place your e-card at the very end of your category in campaign. This means that you will potentially get many fewer blogs to spend EC to appear on your widget.
2. If people do not agree to and accept ads, eventually, they will actually more or less force you to do so, as Phirate notes below:

Sarah Palin’s Sister-in-Law Arrested for Burglary Second Time in One Week

9:00 PM FRIDAY - Breaking News: Todd Palin’s sister, Diana Palin was arrested for breaking and entering in Wasilla, Alaska yesterday.

Some of you may recall that Levi Johnston’s mother, Sherry Johnston, was also arrested (but on drug charges, and in January), and is scheduled to go to trial in May. I bring this up because it occurred to me tonight that the Palin Clan really is the modern version of the Beverly Hillbillies. Trailer courts, drug dealing relatives, child pregnancy, drug busts, and now petty burglaries. A model, truly law abiding, fine example of a Christian-Republican family indeed.

Todd Palin’s half-sister was arrested Thursday after police say she broke into a Wasilla home for the second time this week to steal money.

| Since charges have been dropped against Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK) citing prosecutorial misconduct by the Bush Justice Dept., the Alaska GOP is asking that Sen. Begich (D-AK), who won the election in November, resign so that a special election may be held. Palin has apparently put her 2 cents in, and wants Begich to step down. <Begich must not be kissing up to the Queen properly.> Word to Begich: DON’T DO IT.

| On Thursday. the DOW extended a 4-week rally that gave the index it’s best 4 weeks since 1933, and drove it to above 8,000 for the first time in two months. The news which provoked the rise was the end of the G-20 summit, where world leaders declared a crackdown on tax havens and hedge funds, and pledged an additional $1.1 trillion in financing to the IMF. Banking shares also rose after a rulemaking body for the accounting industry relaxed financial reporting rules that force banks to value their assets at current market prices.
But be forewarned. The market is likely to dive again as soon as the March unemployment and job losses are released. A temporary dive, I would suspect.

Anonymity, Political Commentary, and Why Alaska Democrat Mike Doogan is an Asshat

This country has a long, and revered history of anonymous political commentary, beginning with Thomas Paine, the author of the widely read pamphlet, Common Sense (1776), which advocated for America’s independence from Great Britain, and The American Crisis (1776–1783), a pro-revolutionary pamphlet series.

Our founding fathers also utilized the ability to anonymously make political commentary in the creation of our country. The greatest example of this is The Federalist Papers.

The Federalist Papers are comprised of 85 articles advocating the ratification of the U.S. Constitution, and were originally published between October 1787 and August 1788. They were written by  Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay, using the pseudonym "Publius," in order to preserve anonymity and to ensure that the ideas were considered on their own merit, separate from the authors of the ideas. These papers are still today a primary source for interpretation of the Constitution, being that they outline both the philosophy and the motivation for the system of government being proposed.

| The results of a new poll show that Americans are not drinking the GOP koolaide when it comes to blaming Obama for the recession.

| On Thursday, the US House passed a bill, in a 247-171 vote, that would give the Treasury broad powers to prohibit "unreasonable and excessive" compensation and bonuses that are not based on performance standards.The bill would affect all employees at financial institutions that receive bailout funds.

| Last night, on MSNBC’s Countdown, Keith Olbermann named O’Reilly “Worst Person” for using his harassment machine to stalk a liberal blogger.

| On Wednesday, the GOP, in a typical move, authored an article containing a phony graph in the Wall Street Journal. Their intent, was of course to discredit Obama’s budget plan.

Joe-the-Plumber Goes Union Busting and Falls on His Own Idiocy

I can’t stand this bloody idiot. He is truly a complete dumbass/buffoon. He is, however, good for the occasional laugh. From Jason Linkins:
