| The biggest story of the past couple of days was the introduction of Bo Obama, the newest resident of the White House, on Tuesday. A Portuguese Water Dog, Bo is completely adorable. If you'd like to see his intro to the press, the best video is from the BBC, and NYT has the best pics.

| On Tuesday night, Reuters reported that another U.S.-flagged and U.S.-owned ship, the Liberty Sun, was attacked by Somali pirates. The pirates attacked with rockets and automatic weapons, but failed to board the ship. The crew was unharmed, but the ship did suffer damage, and contacted the U.S. Navy for help. They are now under escort by the USS Bainbridge. __________________________
| A Minnesota court declared Al Franken the winner in the still disputed senate battle in that state. President Obama has endorsed the court’s statement, and DNC Chairman, Tim Kaine, has called for Norm Coleman to concede. Republicans are saying little at this point, but they have encouraged Coleman to appeal to the Minnesota Supreme Court.
Personally, I don’t think that he will concede, rather I believe that he will take it to the MSC, meaning months more of this farce – I hope I’m wrong.

| From the surreal world of right-wing nutjob, Alaska governor, Sarah Palin, the good news just keeps on coming. I won’t even go in to the feud that the sitting, supposedly adult gov of Alaska is carrying on publicly with an 18-year-old kid. The kid being her grandson’s father, Levi Johnston. In the latest deplorable breach of civility, Palin’s father, the creationism believing science teacher, and slayer of all things with fur, publicly attacked Johnston.
And, far worse, we learned that Palin’s controversial AG pick, Wayne Anthony Ross, is a racist, a defender of KKK art.
And last in the land of the Wasilla Hillbillies, but not least, Palin skips town for a speaking engagement in Indiana, during the last week of the legislative session, with a showdown over the stimulus looming.

[pssst….every night before I go to sleep, I thank the universe that the Wasilla hillbillies still reside in Alaska and not next in line for the WH. amen.]

| I have to say……recently, I have grown to LUV polls. Some recent poll results from Gallup:
- 71% of Americans trust Obama to handle the economy
- 51% of Americans trust the Democrats in Congress re the economy
- 38% of Americans trust the Republicans in Congress re the economy
A new CNN poll shows that Americans trust Obama with our national security, in spite of Cheney’s claims that “some of Obama’s actions have put the country at greater risk” .According to the poll, 72% disagree with Cheney’s view, and many conservatives have also spoken out in disagreement with Cheney’s remarks. From ThinkProgress.org:
Last month, former Vice President Dick Cheney complained that President Obama’s policies “raise the risk…of another attack” in the U.S. Since then, numerous government officials — including Gen. David Petraeus and Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) — have spoken out against Cheney’s remarks. Now, a new CNN poll shows that the American public also view Cheney’s claim with disregard. According to the poll, 72 percent “disagree with Cheney’s view that some of Obama’s actions have put the country at greater risk with 26 percent agreeing with the former vice president.”
| On Tuesday, President Obama gave a major speech on the economy at Georgetown University. You can view the speech via video in it’s entirety here. The transcript is also available.
