:: The New York Post is reporting that Caroline Kennedy is Paterson's choice to replace Hillary Clinton in the Senate.
“DESPITE claims that he's still undecided, Gov. Paterson is "certain" to pick Caroline Kennedy to replace Hillary Rodham Clinton in the US Senate, several unhappy contenders for the job have told friends and associates in recent days.
The contenders based their conclusion on the view that Paterson, after nearly two months of indecision, would "greatly embarrass" and "entirely humiliate" Kennedy, anger her prominent political family and even offend President-elect Barack Obama by picking someone other than President John F. Kennedy's daughter.
As for the governor's claim to be weighing a last-minute finalist, the contenders agree with a close Paterson friend who said, "It's clear David is just trying to play mind games with the press."”

:: Shoes follow Bush.
There was a protest in Washington today. At the White House. And amazingly enough, no one was even arrested (well, one guy). The guards at the White House allowed protestors and tourists to lob shoes on to the White House lawn. Some of them even encouraged onlookers. Amazing. Only in America.
“President Bush was given an Iraqi-journalist-style sendoff on his last full day in office Monday, as tourists and demonstrators lobbed shoes, pumps, boots, sandals and Crocs from Pennsylvania Avenue onto the White House lawn.
Before launching the operation live, the shoe-chuckers took target practice in Dupont Circle on a 20-foot-tall blow up doll of the outgoing president, decked out in the flight suit he wore aboard the "Mission Accomplished" aircraft carrier.”Source: HUFFPOST

:: President Bush makes a decision not to pardon Scooter Libby.
This is a very good thing. However, Dubya deserves NO credit as he has not done anything in the past eight years that doesn't reek of self-interest. This is no different.
“In a move that has keenly disappointed some of his strongest conservative allies, President Bush has decided not to pardon Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, for his 2007 conviction in the CIA leak case, two White House officials said Monday.”Source: Newsweek

:: Cindy McCain looks like a sheep, and now, shrieking "media bias" she follows the far right-wingers in to the pasture.
Hey, Cindy, of course it couldn't be that your hubby didn't win because he had nothing of value to say, could it? Or that he was willing to potentially inflict a completely unqualified candidate for VP on this country? Nope, gotta be the media bias. Damn bloggers in pajamas. Ba-a-a-a-a
“Cindy McCain attacked media coverage of her husband’s presidential campaign Monday, saying there is now “very little difference now between journalism and gossip.”
“Without sounding bitter—and I’m not bitter—I do believe there was a media bias. I do believe that the media had a specific agenda and with that said, the American people cast their vote,” McCain said in an interview she gave to her daughter Meghan, a blogger who posted the transcript on The Daily Beast.”Source: POLITICO

:: Obama's first 100 hours as the president.
“Vans will be poised at the Capitol to take a few top aides of Barack Obama's to their new offices at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. as soon as he is sworn in, transition aides told Politico.
About 20 senior officials have had their paperwork cleared to enter the White House complex on Tuesday. Some will attend a traditional lunch with the new president in the Capitol, then get to work while the inaugural parade is under way.
The quick start on Tuesday is indicative of the months of planning that Obama’s transition team has put into preparing for his opening days in office.”Source: POLITICO
