To amend the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 to provide more effective remedies to victims of discrimination in the payment of wages on the basis of sex, and for other purposes.
Why this bill is important: Another civil rights issue, this bill deals with equal pay for equal or essentially the same work. This speaks to the heart of women's biggest complaint re equal rights. It is the area where we still are very much discriminated against, and this bill is the first step towards dealing with that inequity.
