The G.O.P. Economic Stimulus Plan
Wrapping themselves in their usual partisan rhetoric, the right-wing bloggers are fiercely deriding any GOP pol who dares to voice support for, or even just remain silent about, Obama's stimulus plan. An example, from Hot Air:
“Like the rest of America’s economic braintrust, he’s not sure it’ll work at all. The furthest he’ll go is to say he’s “confident” it’ll “save or create” three million jobs; if you’re wondering what that means in real terms, just pick the number of jobs that you expect will be lost by 2010 and add three million to that. That’s how many we’ll be told would have been lost if this hadn’t passed. In fact, it’s his own pessimism that explains why he’s been so conciliatory towards the Blue Dogs and the GOP: It’s not about “changing the tone,” it’s about knowing that the ship’s going down and wanting Republicans on deck with him so that they don’t capitalize in the midterms. For reasons that escape me, the GOP’s evidently going to play along even though they’re powerless to stop the stimulus anyway. Maybe McConnell realized that opposing it is now semi-officially unpatriotic.”
And from Michelle Malkin:
“Oh, no. Not again. I need to wear a safety helmet to cover the Republican incompetents trying to muster up a response to the Obama Generational Theft Act of 2009.”
From the front lines, the far superior G.O.P. proposals:
- WAR - START ONE! It is the all-time best economic stimulus plan. We should know, ya know. So, which country can we provoke in to provoking us enough to attack them?
- OUTSOURCE, OUTSOURCE, OUTSOURCE. Send MORE jobs to China. Hey, they own us now anyway.
- DEREGULATE, DEREGULATE, MORE deregulation! Ya know you want to.
- DRILL, BABY, DRILL!
- Bigger TAX BREAKS -- if you are middle class, you need not apply. Besides, you're supposed to be dead. Lie down and freakin' stay dead!
PS....In my weekly reading of various right-wing blogs, I followed a link to Joe the Plumber's blog, that recent icon of the ignorant, but I am completely certain that it isn't worth the twenty bucks that it costs to read it.. Yes, he charges $ to read his blog.
John McCain and Ann Coulter
During a Fox News interview with Neil Cavuto today, McCain noted that the GOP must support the stimulus plan or risk being seen as obstructionist.[duh].
Meanwhile, Cavuto had Ann Coulter on during the following segment. As one might expect, they discussed McCain's remarks, and Coulter had this to say(bolding is mine):
“"I don't really know much about what is going on right now because this came out Tuesday, so I don't know the details of the stimulus plan. But I think it is pretty clear from the last election the voters want Republicans to be Republicans.”
Um, Ann, darlin', that just isn't true. In fact, what the voters clearly want, is for the Republicans to be GONE.
WINGNUT FORUM POSTS
And finally, on a forum where I am self-loathing enough to post once in a while, a couple of wingnuts had the following to say:
“Anne Coulter has a message to get out, backed up by studies and fact. I agree that she has a raw way of getting that message across, but it doesn't change the fact that her message is true in a general sense.”
“as for the Jim Crow laws, I was a victim of the reversal of those laws in the integration aspect of it....forced integration. Let me tell ya, it backfired and made huge racists of the people around me. Still to this day. And it was implemented by the Democrats who thought they knew (once again) what was best for us.”
“Glam came back after a long absence and began taking cheap shots at a 5 times NY Times best selling author who is generally admired by republicans.”[the author they are referring to is Ann Coulter]
“I know where the Republican party went wrong, it consistently thinks that Americans want to be self sufficient when in fact they want to be taken care of by a big Government. I think it's obvious to most Republicans that the majority of the country is slowly enslaving us all to the Gov't and they don't even realize it.”
