Bachman does her attention seeking Palin thing yet again, but before I go on let me just say this right the frack out front. Barbara Bachman (D-MN) and Sarah Palin make me freakin' ashamed to even be the same gender as they are, and these two completely clueless women should not be allowed to represent anyone except themselves, in my opinion, and they sure as hell don't represent a majority of American women.
You all already know way more than you needed to know about Palin, but Bachman didn't get quite as much attention during the pre-election period, until she went out there and reeled it in. Given today's news, I felt that she deserved just a little more attention, and so here are the adventures of Barbara Bachman, in the national media, starting in January 2007, shortly after she began her first term in congress, and ending with today's news. Did I miss anything?
| January 2007
:: Bachman begins her first term in congress.
| February 2007
:: In an interview in February 2007, with Lawrence Schumacher, a reporter with the St. Cloud Times, Bachman claimed that she knows of a secret plan by Iran to partition Iraq and turn half of the country into a “terrorist safe haven zone” called the “Iraq State of Islam.”. She then claimed that her statement had been misconstrued. | Source - Think Progress
| October 2008
:: Bachman did an interview on MSNBC’s “Hardball”, on October 17, wherein she told Chris Matthews that
“Barack Obama may have “anti-American views” and that the news media should conduct a “penetrating exposé” to determine whether members of Congress are “pro-America or anti-America.””. | Politico
Shades of McCarthyism, the dumb twit. Calling for political witch hunts is so outrageous, and so anti-American in and of itself, and apparently Bachman just doesn't get that. We are allowed, in America, to hold views that please no one but ourselves. Duh. .
Once this news got around, Bachman began to back-pedal, and denied ever saying that Obama is "anti-American".
This next interview is apparently from a local station in Minnesota, and was filmed on October 19.
Going forward, Bachman continued to back-pedal, revising her statements as she went. From Think Progress, October 22:
“On the defensive over her controversial Hardball appearance last Friday, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) told the St. Cloud Times yesterday that she regretted suggesting that Barack Obama held “anti-American” views. But at the same time Bachmann was apologizing for her remarks to traditional media outlets, Bachmann continued to cast aspersions on Obama’s patriotism in a series of appearances on right-wing radio shows.”
As the national media lambasted her for the anti-American remarks, and her quest for reelection was in peril, she also received some unwelcome attention from the G.O.P. itself, as they reportedly pulled ads from her race, in an effort to distance themselves.
| November 2008
:: Last night, Bachman was a guest on Hannity and Colmes, where she trashed Obama's staff choices as "more of the same" because some of them are former 'Clintonites'.
As if she even has a clue what she is talking about. As if she doesn't just parrot what others say, and as if she matters. Argh.....
