I've been intending to write a couple of posts about the passage of Prop 8. Fortuitously, today I ran across this video, and whether you love Olbermann or frequently fantasize about stabbing him with a rusty knife, this video will touch your heart. He said it so well, I cried.
The saddest thing of all is that so many people feel it necessary to virtually spit on love, as if it is an overrated commodity. It is not, and denying it to another person because of your own beliefs is seriously twisted.. It is wrong on so many levels, and I am still in disbelief that it passed.
As a country we patted ourselves on the back for electing an African-American president, and thereby seemingly getting past the racism which had been overwhelmingly prevalent here until the last ten years or so. Why could we not extend that to those with an innately different sexual preference than the majority, so that they too may be legally bound to the person they love?
