Red Leather: Modern Glam Weekly Shopping Find

I went looking through the online sales at some of the major retailers for summer sale  handbags that you could carry all year. This gorgeous red bag by Etienne Aigner at Macys.com was my absolute fav of the handbags that both met my other criterion, and were also under $100 USD.

This luscious red leather is muted, and should go well with all of the beautiful greyed reds that will be in the stores for Fall. In fact, it could be the one accessory that makes last year's look appear up to date by virtue of it's color alone! The price is a very reasonable  $88 USD.

If you love it, grab it before it's gone --- I did.

The Little Black Dress: Modern Glam Weekly Shopping Find

This week's shopping find is that little black dress that we all find so indispensable! In my search for the perfect little black dress, I kept a few things in mind:

1. That it be a dress that the average woman would look elegant in;
2. Under $200;
3. Wearable year-round;
4. Elegant, simple, easy to dress up or down;
5. Classic---this dress will never go out of style.

All that said, here it is; a simple, elegant, classic cut black sheath dress by Calvin Klein. *Bonus:the cutaway sleeveline is designed to visually slim your upper arms. It is sold in a wide range of sizes, from sizes 2-16, and sizes 14W-24W. The price? $158, and a bargain at twice that.

Dress it up by adding jewelry, and an evening jacket or shrug. Take it down for work by adding a silk scarf at the neckline, simple earrings, and a blazer. Perfect. Available at Macys.com.

Modern Glam Weekly Shopping Find: June 7

I haven't shopped around a lot this week, other than for lingerie, as is probably obvious to all who are reading.

This morning, I logged on at NeimanMarcus.com, and looked through their pre-Fall offerings. All I can say is .....yummy!

The dress and jacket I chose are more like an "inspirational find", since the price is far more than I have to spend, but if I could........

Modern Glam Weekly Shopping Find: May 31

In honor of Father's Day, celebrated on June 15, I went
looking for a gift for the fashion conscious dad.

It didn't take me long to find something that I liked. By typing "Father's Day" in to the search bar at Etsy, I found a large selection of handmade items to peruse. My choice is pictured below. A handsome, chain maille men's bracelet, meant to be worn with casual attire. The designer is Crescent Maille, a designer who specializes in fabulous chain maille jewelry for men, and women.

Modern Glam Weekly Shopping Find: May 24

I have a confession to make. I adore girly stuff. I love pink, albeit in small doses, I love anything that inspires romance, I love perfume, nail polish, expensive stockings, as well as all the other optional trappings of being a woman. And, damn it, I can't resist a bar of pink handmade soap!


I found this one on Etsy, produced by Dennis Anderson, and available for purchase in his Etsy shop. A gorgeous pink peony color, it smells absolutely yummy, of a rosy floral scent. As an added bonus, it is superfatted, so your skin will love it (unless you have issues with break-outs)! Buy one for your shower, and another for your guest bath. The price is a very reasonable $4.75.

Modern Glam Weekly Shopping Find:May 17

This week's shopping find is from my Etsy shop. I know, this really is shameless self-promotion, however, a girl has gotta make a living! So, please forgive me, and trust me when I tell you that my own products are worthy of being a "find"!

This beautiful necklace is a tribute to femininity and glam, with it's many rose-colored Austrian crystals, Swarovski of course, natural, freshwater white pearls, and gorgeous, rare 14k gold-filled beads. Created for the woman who is confident enough to enjoy being sexy and feminine,  it is also versatile enough to be worn with many different looks. From the little black dress, to jeans and a white shirt, it becomes the beautiful focal point, drawing attention to your face. 

Each bead was individually hand-wired to a 14k gold-filled chain, and the necklace fastens with  a hand-forged gold clasp.

May 3: Weekly Shopping Find

 

I currently own the typical. BORING, black leather laptop briefcase. It offends my sense of aesthetics in its extreme blandness (that blah factor); I am a person who really, really needs my possessions to be beautiful as well as functional!

My find this week is from Etsy purveyor|indie designer of laptop bags, Janine King Designs. She uses the most gorgeous fabrics, and the construction is simply the best. Not in the market for a laptop bag?  These bags make great totes, and she also offers ipod cases, laptop sleeves, laptop briefcases and totes, and a few other items. The images below are two of my fav's.

April 25: Weekly Shopping Find

This week it was difficult to make a choice. All of the images that I had seen throughout the week began to blur together.......I did finally choose this classic, gorgeous navy blue dress as this week's find for a couple of reasons.

1. It is not always easy to find the perfect little black/navy  dress when you want it.
2. This elegant little "dressup" number is classic, can be worn for several seasons without looking like a "fashion don't", is reasonably priced, and can be worn year round.
3. Ruching is always our friend.

Apr 19: This Weeks Shopping Find

I spent way too much time  on Etsy this week. So many really cool finds, it's hard to narrow them down to one, but I happened to run across these fabulous, hand-marbled men's ties. Below, is my fav from Vansant Designs. Gorgeous color and pattern on silk charmeuse....I'm thinking it would be a great gift for some lucky man on Father's Day. :)

This Week's Shopping Find

Well, you can probably deduce from this blog that I love fashion.....and, I like to check out what's new in the shops, usually once a week or so. This is the first post in my new series, "Shopping Finds", to be published every Friday or Saturday, depending on my mood and schedule.

My finds will run the gamut from ultra-expensive to a true bargain, from glamorous to very casual, from couture to ready-to-wear, and from handmade by indie artisans to commercially produced clothing and accessories.

The first find in the series is this very glam, very girly, pink,(or black)  open-toed platform pump, by French designer, Christian Louboutin.  To die for, at an extravagant price........not in my price range, but too yummy.:)
