Chic & Casual a la the Boyfriend Jean

::I love the look of boyfriend jeans for hanging about the house or grocery  shopping, or any other very informal thing that we typically do in a day.

These jeans are by CurrentElliott, and they are très comfortable as well as looking rather casual chic [yep, I have a pair]. The layered look of the sweater and shirt is very now, and will also keep you warm when it's cold outside. 

One caution. The model in the image actually has on sneakers, and I have one word to say re that --- DON'T. Wearing sneakers with this style of jean will make your legs look heavy, and will make you look shorter, neither of which is desirable, comprenez vous ? ;)

Fashion Trends: Fall 2008 Collections

It's about the curves.... 
There are seven or eight key trends going on in the Fall 2008 Collections. Some will be short-lived, and some will last through two to three more seasons.

While I am not a big trend follower persay, I do like to look fashionable without being a slave to trends. That said, sometime next week, we'll talk about how to achieve this.

However, if you wish to be le très chic fashionista without being a slave to trends, you must, at the least be aware of the trends. Thus, we will first be exploring some of the current trends in fashion.

One of the major trends is "le belle curves", which includes an abundance of ruffles. We saw the ruffles begin to come in to the mainstream last Spring, and I believe that they will probably peak this season, and then begin to wane in popularity.

The curves make their appearance in many variations, the most prevalent being the peplums seen below.

Fashion Trends: Fall 2008 Women's Shoe Collections - Part Three

The basics. The basic pointy toe pump. The basic square and round toe pumps. The printed pumps.

All of these styles are things that we can rely on season after season, and are the staples of any shoe wardrobe.

A few things to note....

The trend in printed footwear focuses primarily on animal prints, including snakeskin, zebra, leopard, etc..

Texture is HOT this Fall, and is seen in suede, patent leather, snakeskin, and moc croc.

Colors are grayed/toned down, as we also see in the Fall clothing collections. A few brights, such as an electric blue, are sprinkled in, but these are not the key trend.

A tip. If you find it difficult to walk or to feel comfortable in high heels, try the square or round toe pumps. This style is much more comfortable, and easier to wear, than the pointed toe pump.

Fashion Trends: Fall 2008 Women's Shoe Collections - Part Two

It's all about the shoes...

One thing I've noticed is that my readers love shoes. Not to worry, I do too, and I've put together a few posts to that end. It's all about the shoes.

Every season, certain trends are prevalent. For Fall Shoe Collections 2008, most of the trends are both feminine and sexy, starting with the gorgeous evening pumps depicted below. These styles are very unlike what you saw in my last post on Fall shoes, Fashion Trends: Fall 2008 Women's Shoe Collections, and I suspect that most of you will very much prefer these softer, girly and sexy looks.

Fashion Trends: Fall 2008 Women's Shoe Collections

Trends for shoes in the Fall collections fall in to a few prominent categories. One of them, the trend that I personally like the least, is what I call the "clunkies".

These are shoes that are really more of a cross between a boot and a shoe, and for the upcoming Fall season, they are especially clunky, and widely available.   

Now I do realize that there are women who will just love these shoes, and so I apologize in advance if I offend you. However, these shoes are not in the slightest bit flattering to the female leg, and by that I mean any shape or size of female. They will visually make you look shorter, and make your leg look heavier. Examples below. Tell me what you think.
