Esquire magazine holds an annual "Best Dressed Real Men" contest. I am a big fan, because I love to see a man who is not afraid to be stylish, and because I think it's a great idea to look at what people are actually wearing on the street/in real life, and find those who have style to emulate.
First, the winner of the 2008 contest, Kenyatte Nelson, from Cincinatti.
I have always LOVED to see a man in a good blazer, and a pair of jeans. Tip: Try a blazer in a classic color, jeans, and a sweater, or a polo shirt or tee shirt. Very nice.

I Owe This Post to the Monkey
Yesterday, I was reading the current post on a blog that I read daily, Monkey Fables and Tales. Now, prior to yesterday, it would never have occurred to me that I might be linking to one of the posts on his blog from this blog. After all, he isn't exactly all about fashion.
Now to the heart of the matter. The man needs a manbag. We just can't have him walking around with bulging pockets and looking all misshapen. Are you with me so far, ladies? Knowing the habits of the average male as well as I do, it was no feat of psychic prowess that led me to realize that most men will not bother to search for, much less buy this kind of thing by themselves. Maybe the Monkey is different.....but, er, I have my deep and abiding doubts, so I am making it so easy for him, it will only require a few minutes to choose the manbag, click on the link and order it.

In honor of Father's Day, celebrated on June 15, I went
looking for a gift for the fashion conscious dad.
It didn't take me long to find something that I liked. By typing "Father's Day" in to the search bar at Etsy, I found a large selection of handmade items to peruse. My choice is pictured below. Rather than discussing actual trends, when, after all, men's swimwear styles don't usually vary all that much from year to year, I'd like to offer you a woman's perspective on the styles that are available. Feel free to register your agreement/disagreement via the comments---I can take it!
The first image is comprised of the styles I saw that I liked, and that I thought would look great on a few different body types. One of the style attributes that these suits all have in common, is that of the lengths---they're neither below the knee, nor are they too short. The patterns are contemporary, and very graphic, a look that's way hot in women's and men's apparel.

I am no expert in the field of men's fashion, however, I have had several requests recently to include a fashion feature for the men, and it's my pleasure to do so, as I certainly appreciate my male readers!
That said, it's late in the season, and the shops are beginning to show the collections for Fall 2008, while in the real world, we're just getting ready to enjoy the summer heat. For my first look at menswear, I chose casual looks, all designer, but looks that can be recreated in lower priced lines if you so desire. Most of these looks can also be carried over in to Fall.
The first image is a compilation of runway looks from Giorgio Armani, tailor extrordinaire. As usual, click on the images to view a larger version. {meaningless drivel: my fav is the last look on the right/end drivel} Be sure to read to the end, where I've included some tips on achieving a similar look for less.
