When you're buying clothing or accessories online, it's often very difficult to get a good idea of how something would look on you. Of course the etailer could hire models to wear the product for the product photos, but that can be very costly and isn't really feasible for most small businesses online. I sell artisan jewelry both online and off, and for me, I most wish I could hire a model to wear the necklaces and earrings for my product shots.
Yesterday I decided to try something new for me......I am planning to draw simple, stylized fashion illustrations depicting my necklaces on a non-existent female mannequin :). I'm hoping that this helps my potential clients achieve a better idea of how the product would look on them.
The illustration depicts the necklace shown in the photographic image. To zoom, click the image.
I'd really love some feedback on this, so please feel free to comment, positive or negative. Keep in mind that my point is not to produce a terribly precise drawing of the necklace itself, just to show where it falls, as designed. I'm not sure if this will be helpful to my shoppers, but I thought it was worth a try.
