I tried it. I hate it. The Entrecard paid ad system reeks. I cancelled all paid ads on this blog and on Inspire Emotion, and will no longer accept them. Inspire Political Discourse has not and will not accept paid ads either.
In order to preserve my very last nerve, and to get through the holidays unscathed, I am not going to be updating this blog for at least 2-3 months.
I won't go in to all the gory details, but suffice to say that something had to give, and that would be this blog as it consumes the most time when I do the posts that I believe are really relevant and useful to my readers.
I will continue to update Inspire Emotion (probably irregularly until after the holdidays), and Inspire Political Discourse. Please do visit me on those blogs, and be sure to check back in late February or early March for new posts on Modern Glam!
Meanwhile, thank you for all your support, and do have a wonderful holiday season, and a fabulous beginning to the new year!

We all know that for the most part, "fashion" trickles down from the top designers. However, what I find just as interesting, and perhaps more so, is what the person on the street is wearing. After all, runway looks are not usually what is actually worn by real men and women.
I'd really love to do a weekly feature, promoting fashion on the streets, from a variety of countries. The countries I am most interested in are as follows:

I apologize. I had intended to get the next post in the Wardrobing series published earlier this week, said that I would do so, and it's entirely my own fault that I didn't.
Many of you who read here are aware that this is not my only blog, and that said, my political opinions have taken precedence this past week or so, as the nominee that McCain chose for Veep scares the hell out of me.
So, I have been researching, and posting prolifically on another of my blogs, Inspire Emotion, and have given short shrift to this one.
The next Wardrobing post is partially complete, and I am going to finish it today or early tomorrow, and I promise that it will be online by tomorrow night.
Meanwhile, I hope you forgive me my temporary political activism. :)
The contest ended on August 30, and yesterday, I made up a zillion little slips of paper. One entry for each comment of those who participated.
I asked my son to draw the name from the box, and he did so.
And, the winner is...........Beamer.
The contest ran from July 26 through midnight August 30, and during that timeframe, Beamer contributed a total of forty-one [41] comments, generating 41 slips of paper with his name on them, so it is not too surprising that he would win.
Congrats, Beamer, and considering your prolific efforts, you so deserve to have won!

Due to the need to deal with some personal problems, I will not be posting for the next 4-7 days. I will try to do some dropping (Entrecard)and commenting, but I can't promise. Time is an issue.

I'm sure you've seen this beautiful graphic floating around the net before today. I know that I had, and I was always a little envious of the recipients. Today, it's my turn to incite envy, as I was given the Arte y Pico award by è¿éspi20, aka Margaret the author of è¿éspi20.com, one of my fav blogs, and one of the few that I almost always make time to read on a daily basis. Take a minute and do visit her.......she will teach you, inspire you, and cheer you up - - - not a bad deal for a few minutes of your time!
I also must admit that a large part of what I really love about this whole incident, is what Margaret wrote about this blog, and I can't even tell you how good it made me feel. She is very kind, and this is what she had to say (okay, I'm bragging........just a little, lol):

Yesterday I learned that I have received my very first blog award, an award presented for "spreading love, beauty, and joy". WOW. I am very honored, and only hope that I can live up to those standards! Bestowed upon me by the very kind, Heather, of Azure Islands Designs.
Now, I have to pass on this award to five other deserving blogs, and honestly, I have no clue where to start, because of course, I know of many deserving blogs. Will post my choices this coming weekend, after pondering this grueling decision. ;)

Last week I spent an inordinate amount of time in posting the Lingerie Workshop. I had intended to continue posting my planned articles in that series until I was finished, but I am so bloody sick of bras and the like, I can't do it! I will
post more on lingerie, however, I will be spreading it out at the rate of one post every two weeks or so.

~Possibly a question and answer session
~Other foundation garments, style and function
~What constitutes "quality" in lingerie, and does it matter
So, for now, we are back to business as usual here, and tomorrow (Wednesday) a new "She's Got the Look" feature will be posted bright and early in the morning.
