Men's Fashion Trends 2008: The ManBag

decorative bullet I Owe This Post to the Monkey

Yesterday, I was reading the current post on a blog that I read daily, Monkey Fables and Tales. Now, prior to yesterday, it would never have occurred to me that I might be linking to one of the posts on his blog from this blog. After all, he isn't exactly all about fashion.

Now to the heart of the matter. The man needs a manbag. We just can't have him walking around with bulging pockets and looking all misshapen. Are you with me so far, ladies? Knowing the habits of the average male as well as I do, it was no feat of psychic prowess that led me to realize that most men will not bother to search for, much less buy this kind  of thing by themselves. Maybe the Monkey is different.....but, er, I have my deep and abiding doubts, so I am making it so easy for him, it will only require a few minutes to choose the manbag, click on the link and order it.

Oh, and Monkey, you are very welcome. ;)

decorative bullet The Manbag NOT to Choose

The manbags featured below, while very chic and fashionable, are NOT the bags you should choose if you are a straight man. If you choose one of these, you will look......like your mother.

And Monkey, If you allow some woman to talk you in to one of these babies, don't say I didn't warn you....I am not responsible!

decorative bullet The Nicest and Most Expensive Manbags

Très chic, and lots of $. Possibly a week's salary.

In case you wondered, my fav is the one on the top left; next fav would be the one with the red stripe. Very sexy.

The Least Expensive, Quite Nice Manbags

Sourced from The Gap, and Banana Republic, these manbags are very handsome, sexy, and a good value.

And finally, Monkey, an image of what your bulging pants, er, pockets, could look like.

ps.....
I am really proud of myself right now, because I resisted the use of emoticons in writing this post, particularly the loling emoticons. And trust me, it was hard.

Copyright and resource info on the Menswear Resources page by the end of the week now. What if Monkey wants to click and buy right now? That's another thing I know.....not gonna happen.

Has hell frozen over yet?

Until then, I will rely on pockets and my lady.

Should I tell you that you have taste, perhaps confront the fact that you think these things are cool, or just walk away and pray my other half never sees your post?

LOL, come on you guys........nothing wrong with a man purse. Personally, I think that they can be very sexy. ;)

Sorry to say, you thinking they're sexy and winking in that seductive way is not enough to get me to abandon all taste and start using one of those monstrosities. You'll just have to corrupt other men with your poison :)

rofl, Carl!! :)

For anyone reading, there is also a discussion going on at BlogCatalog about this topic.

Gotta say, I'm currently carrying the only man-bag I'll ever carry :)

Respect the bulge!

Both men and women where I live ride bicycles and scooters to and from work. Others drive cars. We have no public transit and going to work for most involves a ferry trip to the big island or boat trip or float plane ride. Consequently, lunches, changes of clothes and even shoes, reading material etc. are part of that experience and practical bags and backpacks are the order of the day.

Actually, we islanders have a standing joke about "suits and heels" (urbanite newcomers) who move to our island. If they aren't a carrying a bag or wearing a backpack and if they are wearing Gucci dress type shoes we snigger, knowing that this will soon change. They will either adapt or they will join the next outgoing wave that leaves the island and return to the urban jungles.

I did read it. And it is good..Mine would fall into the 'Most expensive' catagory style-wise! But then..we have less choice over here than you guys. Take care.

I don't know any men who would use the "ManBag"...a pack sack yes, or a camera bag, a computer bag...not a "ManBag". Personally I don't see why not...with the exception of the top three the rest of the man bags you showcased look very unisex to me...

Cheers

I only see one that I'd be comfortable seeing my man wear, it is the one that looks like a backpack. :)

I cannot see my husband using one of these no matter how manly it looks. He's going to have crap (not literally!) in his pockets no matter what.

Of course he is not a fashion plate -- I have to choose his clothing if he's doing anything more than going to work or the hardware store.

ê¿ê

lmao -- Well, if nothing else, I'm glad I could provide a topic for a blog post for ya. ;)

Not for me I'm afraid not manly enough! I will stick to my rucksack and my wifes handbag. Wonder if they will catch on in a big way.

Ok, I read his posts and completely agree. But I think it might be more appealing to call it a messenger bag. Not that there may be any messages in the bag...but he certainly writes a few.

naah i don't like these designs , i might get one of it for my girlfriend and not for me !!!! got what i mean ;)

forgot to say ,, there is no thing that is called man purse :)

@ Ken......not too surprising.

@ timethief......I think that sounds like a fabulous way to live, timethief! :)

@ DVS.....thanks for stopping by, DVS. :)

@ Heather.....same here, Heather. :)

@ ê¿ê .....I know so many men like that. :)
I tend to think it's an urban thing.....you see it much more frequently both in Europe and in the US in large urban areas.

@ Monkey......Hee hee....I had fun with it. :)

@ Mark......LOL, well they have caught on. At least in major cities in the US. They've always been popular in Europe.

@ Waterrose......good point, lol! So much lies in an appearance, doesnn't it?!

@ Ameo......I forgive you! :) Glad to see you here again!

I just have to post this great picture of my man-bag :).
