According to a study done by Italian urologist, Dr. Maria Cerruto, wearing a higher heel may strengthen your pelvic floor muscles, and thus put a little zing back in to your sex life.
The subjects of the study were 66 women under the age of 50, and according to Cerruto, the evidence suggests that those subjects who held their foot at a 15° angle to the ground (wearing a 2 inch heel would do it), showed less electrical activity in their pelvic muscles, and their posture was just as good as those women who wore flat shoes.
The pelvic floor muscles in women are responsible for providing support to the pelvic floor organs, including the bladder, bowels, and uterus, as well as contributing to sexual performance and satisfaction. Unfortunately, these muscles do weaken as women age, and after pregnancy and childbirth.
Okay, makes sense. Maybe. But, the study was really too small to draw any real conclusions. Cerruto is herself a self-professed lover of high heels, and undoubtedly biased (not that I really blame her for that).
That said, I LOVE high heels. I love the way I walk in high heels, I love that they make me feel feminine, and I love that they make me appear to be taller than my actual height of 5'6". BUT, I really have trouble believing that they are good for us. I suspect that future studies will discount Cerruto's study.
Do I care? Will I continue wearing high heels even if they find that not only is there not a benefit, but they actually damage the bones in your feet or something equally icky?? NO, I don't care. I am NOT friggin' givin' up my high heels until I'm 90. If then.

High heels are gorgeous, I also love the way they way a womens leg look so delicious. It is a shame about the way they damage the feet but Hollywood celebrities pay for regular pedicures and that seems to help, maybe you should do the same

@ Ameo.....the study was released in February, but I didn't feel like commenting on it till now! :)
@ Heather.....Thanks for stopping by! I'm sorry to hear about your ankle....I would so hate not being able to wear heels! :)
@ Carl....I couldn't live without pedicures---toes are so much prettier when polished!

Oh how I wish I was more graceful that I could wear such shoes. Something about too many broken ankles.

I couldn't agree more, in fact in my perfect world it would be illegal for women to not look nice all the time. Perhaps it should even be a government supplied and subsidized service. It would be a much better use of government funds than fighting wars.

@ Grandy | my sympathies on the broken ankles. I've managed to sprain my right ankle a few times! :)
@ Carl | a gov't. subsidy for glamming oneself up.....I love it! LOL :)

OMG! I can't get used to high heels... plus finding them in a size 10 is not too easy either! I go barefoot or in flip flops most of the time.

Hi Eelcat, thanks for dropping by. :)
I guess it's what you are used to. I started wearing them when I was 14 (behind my Mother's back, lol), and have lived in them ever since. But, if they became painful, I would probably stop!
