The 44th President, Barack Obama
YES WE DID!
I am so proud of my country right now, and filled with hope and optimism for the future in a way I have never experienced.
I don't know what it was about for you all, but for me, the choice to support Obama came in large part from a sense of longing for integrity and competence in the highest office in the land, and a strong desire to see the administration who subverted our Constitution banished, along with the party who elected him. The subversion of the Constitution, the torture at Guantanamo, and in Iraqi prisons, and God only knows where else, was a legacy I did not want to see left to my children or future grandchildren. As Rep. Louis said on ABC News last night, "a non-violent revolution" occurred in this country.
Yes it did, and we took our country back from the hands of the would-be dictators, and put it in the hands of a man with integrity, vision, intelligence, and a strong desire to serve his country.
I have to say that John McCain gave a very gracious concession speech last night, and I admire him for that. Whether or not I can forget about all of the lies he and his campaign told.............well, I am not sure I am a big enough person to do that. And, as Palin's role in the future of the GOP concerns me, I may continue some political blogging, but it will be on Inspire Political Discourse if I do. At least I think that's what I'll do.
See you in a week or so!

I don't know which I feel more, happiness or relief. I am most proud of all the young people that voted. They really put the Obama vote over the top. I wrote about this at http://connectwithyourteens.blogspot.com/2008/11/youth-vote-helped-make-history-in-2008.html
Thanks for all the great work you did during the election. I submitted to or voted up many of your posts in social networking sites to help get out your great words.

Thanks Jennifer! :)
I think I feel relief more than anything else. At least I feel like the country has a chance, and I don't believe that it would have gotten better with McCain at the helm.
It was wonderful to see how involved the young people were, I agree!

Obama supporters got their man. A few questions:
What now is the role of the U.S. military in the world?
How, specifically, will the Obama administration help the economy?
Will Obama, unlike Bill Clinton, follow through with his tax cut to the middle class?
Will Obama, Pelosi and Reid truly govern from the center?
George Miller, who heads the House committee that deals with 401(k)s, wants to eliminate this tax subsidy. He and others want to put this all under Social Security, and let the government take control of it. Will this be attractive to the Obama administration? (The mainstream media did not talk about this issue during the campaign.)
After the announcement that Obama had won the election, why were some of his supporters outside the White House carrying the Soviet flag?
Finally, during the last couple of years, Obama has been pouring honey in so many people’s ears. During his acceptance speech at Grant Park in Chicago, why did he begin to lower the expectations of his administration?
Obama - “The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even in one term.”
And this also from Obama’s Grant Park speech:
Obama - “There will be setbacks and false starts… We know the government can’t solve every problem… Above all, I will ask you to join in the work of remaking this nation.”
Obama campaigned on Hope and Change. Reality is now setting in.
Thank you in advance, for truthfully answering these questions.

I was a bit impressed by McCain's concession speech too. It was almost like a completely different person than the candidate we ahd been seeing for the past several months. Enjoy your week off. You've sure earned it.

@ Paul.........perhaps you should calm down and wait until he actually is the president, rather than the president-elect? Regardless, I will answer as best I can.
>Question: What now is the role of the U.S. military in the world?
To defend the US and our allies. Is not that what it's role should be?
>Question: How, specifically, will the Obama administration help the economy?
see his website: http://change.gov/agenda/economy/
>Question: Will Obama, unlike Bill Clinton, follow through with his tax cut to the middle class?
Yes, I believe he will.
>Question: Will Obama, Pelosi and Reid truly govern from the center?
Good question. I really don't know. I believe that they will try.
>Question: George Miller, who heads the House committee that deals with 401(k)s, wants to eliminate this tax subsidy. He and others want to put this all under Social Security, and let the government take control of it. Will this be attractive to the Obama administration? (The mainstream media did not talk about this issue during the campaign.)
No, absolutely not.
>Question: After the announcement that Obama had won the election, why were some of his supporters outside the White House carrying the Soviet flag?
There were flags flying from many other countries. As you must be aware, many countries all over the world were thrilled to see him elected.
>Question: During his acceptance speech at Grant Park in Chicago, why did he begin to lower the expectations of his administration?
Because he knows it will take time to make the necessary change happen. We didn't get where we are in a year. The government is a mess, our economy is in shambles. Our relations with other countries have been virtually destroyed in many cases. Our constitution was subverted. Our reputation worldwide STINKS.
He will not accomplish his goals overnight. See me in eight years. My guess is that he will accomplish what is needed and will end up being one of our greatest presidents.
You are welcome, and thank you for being polite.

@ RE....thank you!! I am walking around in a bubble, lol.
@ Grandy.....yep. Except now I am feeling guilty for neglecting so many things. :)

Alan......I felt that way too! So weird, really. And apparently, a McCain staffer prevented Palin from giving her prepared remarks. YAH for that! :)

Now that Change is here, the first seemingly innocuous, but vitally important change is to get rid of that vicious, hateful horrid creature in the White House - Barney the Scottish Terrier. He actually bit one of our reporters who helped Change get elected! Sore losers!
Our own pit bull, Emanuel Rahm is on it and we got the scooper.
