I love men. I really do. I love almost everything about them. Almost. And, I have been told, by more than one angry male, that I flirt like I breathe. Okay. I can admit that. It is just flirting, people. It makes life more interesting.
Along with all that, I have a history of being surrounded by men. From my lovers to my best friends, to my cousins, uncles, brothers, stepsons, and son, men are a huge part of my life.
So, now that you know my qualifications for writing this piece, I'll just move right along. Ahem.
10 things that I know for sure about men....
- Men are obtuse, in ways that women are not. Men sometimes require a woman to be very blunt if she wishes to get her point across.
Just sayin'..........
- Men are far less likely to be passive/aggressive types than women. Thank God!
- Men are just as capable of being emotionally destroyed by a woman, as we are by them. And, in my observation, it takes them longer to recover.
- Men cheat more frequently than women do.
- Men are not quite as insecure about their bodies as women, but they are not that far off on it either.
- Men do not really like to compete for a woman's attention. This is far more often seen with women competing for a man's attention.
- Men are just as gossipy, and sometimes more so, than women. Don't bother to deny it.
- As friends, men are frequently more loyal.
- Men do not do PMS, that destroyer of mood. Duh.
- And finally, men are more frequently capable of subtlety. As in a man might say to a woman he is uninterested in, "Sorry, babe, but I am so busy with work for the next year.", and a woman, (at least this unsubtle woman), might be more inclined to say something along the lines of "Um, darlin', I would not ever do you even for practice." or, "Darlin', not if you were the last living, breathing man on earth, and my batteries were all dead."

And that's what I know about men.

Spot on. I'm guilty on all accounts, except maybe the subtlety clause.

@ garg........lol, then we share the same flaw. ;)
@ Sangeeta......how can I resist an invitation like that?!! Yes, of course. :)

Heather, it's always nice to be agreed with, lol. :)
I hope you've recovered from your daughter's wedding by now.....the pics were lovely!!

I don't know. Maybe I was married to a woman then. Because my ex is the most passive aggressive high maintenance insecure man I have ever known.

Lol, Rach, I didn't say there were no passive/aggressive men. :)
Actually, my X No.2 was also one of those. He got it from his mother. I can't get along with those types. *shuddering*

Although I could not agree more with number 7 (and then some!) I disagree with number 9. It may not be pms, but they definitely have monthly rhythms and mood destroyers.

I'm a guy, and assumed this would be a bunch of...
Maybe that is another ways were men are different, we assume people to lie before getting proof.

Another difference that is supported by research is that men are far more sarcastic than women.

@ Debbie......I've never noticed that. I have noticed the moodiness during hormonal surges when they're teenagers (God save us, lol), and the middle-age stuff that happens when their testosterone starts waning....hmm..I guess I'll have to pay more attention, lol! :)
@ Richard.....well, isn't it great when our more cynical assumptions prove to be false? ;)
@ Patricia......I hadn't noticed that either, to be honest. In my own vast (LOL) experience, men and women seem to be pretty close in the ability to nail one with a sharp bit of sarcasm. :)

Wow - I am a man, and I can admit - its all true. Great list. It hurts - but its true...

Justin, you know women love it when you agree with them, don't you? ;)

I agree with your list, except for your point about cheating, I think women cheat just as much as men.

Jonathan, I think you are almost right. The genders are getting closing together in the frequency of cheating, according to stats. :)
